Name:
May Li 李巧敏
Role:Vice President 副會長
Contact:
Email: may.li@chineseculturalarts.org

May Li has been affiliated with the Chinese Collective Arts Association (CCAA) since its inception as a supporting parent of a Chi-Ping dancer and currently serves as Vice President. Her commitment to the Chinese Collective Arts Association is to assist in diversifying the Chinese Cultural Arts apart from dancing in order to broaden awareness of Chinese heritage to the community and members of all ages.

May’s previous personal involvement in various Chinese cultural groups was primarily during her early years of secondary education and the early part of her career. She has served as the social director of the Chinese Students Association at the University of Manitoba and was master of ceremonies at the Chinese Pavilion in Winnipeg during their Folklorama Multicultural Festival. Her final role in the Chinese community there was to represent them as Miss Chinatown and to serve as their ambassador. After the assignment as Miss Chinese Pavilion during the Multicultural festival, she was heavily involved with the Folklorama Organization as one of their spokespersons in promoting multiculturalism and tourism in Manitoba.

May hopes during this term to introduce the CCAA to various Chinese schools as well as other community groups involved in promoting Chinese culture. Most importantly, she feels the next generation needs to be fostered in maintaining the Chinese heritage through knowledge of our customs, and it will be of utmost importance to establish channels to collaborate with other cultural organizations to share our collective expertise and work in concert.
